I'm hoping that some of the loyal members of this board who are experienced in using Scrivener and Mellel together can help me (and perhaps many other users) by sharing some of the practices that they have developed with this approach.įirstly, and perhaps fundamentally, what kind of formatting practices to use in Scrivener? I don't want to unnecessarily complicate the export process, or introduce unforeseen problems in the future, by setting up a raft of preferences in Scrivener - its indents, or the way it does footnotes - but there doesn't seem to be an option for editing in ‘plain text’ mode, except as a conversion at the export stage - and in importing a plain text file in this way, all my quote characters (e.g. Scrivener seems most useful for its corkboard / card-index interface - something about it makes it much easier to get started on fragments of writing - but I don't think I've quite got the hang of its potential relationship with Mellel.
Over the last few weeks I've been trying to get into using Scrivener for the first stage of a medium-sized writing project, since I've read so many good things about it.
